Richard Cohen, M.A., a psychotherapist and educator, is one of the leading experts in the field of sexual orientation and the author of Coming Out Straight, Gay Children Straight Parents, and Straight Talk About Homosexuality.
Cohen is director emeritus of the International Healing Foundation (IHF), a non-profit organization he founded in 1990. Based in the Washington, D.C. area, IHF offers counseling services, healing seminars, counselor training programs, speaking engagements, family healing sessions, and resource materials. As the founder of IHF, Cohen travels extensively throughout the United States, Europe, and Latin America facilitating counselor training programs and healing seminars. He is a frequent guest lecturer on college and university campuses, and at therapeutic and religious conferences.
Cohen holds a Master of Arts degree in psychology from Antioch University and a bachelor's degree from Boston University. For over 27 years he has helped thousands resolve their unwanted same-sex attractions and fulfill their heterosexual dreams, assisted hundreds of parents reconcile with their SSA loved ones, and trained over 6,000 therapists and ministry leaders.
As an expert in sexual orientation therapy, both as a counselor and through his personal experience transitioning from homosexual to heterosexual in the 1980s, Cohen has been interviewed by newspapers, radio and television media, including appearances on 20/20, Jimmy Kimmel Live, and The O'Reilly Factor. Cohen's books are available in English, Spanish, Italian, Polish, Croatian, Arabic, Russian, and German.
Cohen and his wife live in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. His three adult children are making their mark in the world.
